Welcome to The Hub Stanstead Abbotts CIC

(17401614)

A Place to Connect, Grow, Heal and Belong a welcoming community space at the heart of Stanstead Abbotts, Hertfordshire.

The Hub was created around a year and a half ago with a simple idea: to create a safe, welcoming place where people can come together, connect with others, learn something new, improve their wellbeing and feel that they belong.

Since opening our doors, The Hub has hosted a growing range of events, talks, workshops, classes, therapies and community gatherings. We have welcomed local residents, practitioners, teachers, businesses, community groups and visitors from the surrounding villages, creating opportunities for people to meet, share experiences and discover something new.

One of our goals from the beginning was to develop The Hub into a Community Interest Company (CIC), and we are incredibly proud to have achieved this on 14th August.

Becoming a CIC marks an exciting new chapter for The Hub. It reflects our commitment to creating something that has a genuine and lasting benefit for the local community.

More Than Just a Venue

Located in the beautiful riverside village of Stanstead Abbotts, The Hub is much more than a place to hire a room.

It is a community space built around connection, wellbeing, inclusion, learning and support.

Life can be busy. Work, family, technology and everyday responsibilities can sometimes leave people feeling disconnected or overwhelmed. We believe that having somewhere local where people can simply come together can make a real difference.

The Hub provides a friendly environment where people can meet new people, take part in activities, develop new interests, access wellbeing services, share their skills or simply enjoy being part of their community.

You don't have to have a particular belief, background or interest to be part of The Hub.

Whether you're looking for a yoga class, a creative workshop, a talk, a community event, a treatment, somewhere to meet others, a space to run your own event, or simply somewhere different to spend a little time, you are welcome at The Hub.

Our doors are open to people of all ages, backgrounds, beliefs and experiences.

Wellbeing for Modern Life

Wellbeing means different things to different people.

For some, it might mean getting more active, improving their mental health or learning how to manage stress. For others, it might mean meeting people, finding a new hobby, becoming more confident, eating better, being creative or simply having somewhere they feel comfortable.

At The Hub, we want to take a broad and practical approach to healthier living.

Our activities can include movement, relaxation, mindfulness, creativity, education, personal development, complementary therapies and opportunities to connect socially.

We also want The Hub to be a space that feels relevant to younger generations.

Community isn't just something for one age group. Young adults, families, parents, older residents and everyone in between should have opportunities to meet, learn, participate and contribute.

As The Hub develops, we hope to create more activities and projects that encourage healthy lifestyles, creativity, confidence, social connection and positive experiences for younger people and families too.

This could include creative sessions, wellbeing activities, educational talks, social events, fitness and movement, workshops, volunteering opportunities and projects designed around the interests and needs of local people.

Promoting Healthy Living

At The Hub, we believe that wellbeing is about looking after yourself, and that includes the choices we make around food and everyday living. We want to encourage healthier, more balanced lifestyles by helping our community discover fresh, seasonal, organic and locally produced foods, while also supporting local producers and businesses. We believe healthy living should be enjoyable, accessible and realistic, with plenty of opportunities to discover something new.

 Foxglove Bakery & Organity

We are delighted to welcome deliveries from Foxglove Bakery, who provide freshly baked artisan bread and delicious cakes. We love supporting local producers and giving our community the opportunity to enjoy quality, freshly baked products.

Organity

We are also pleased to work with Organity, who deliver organic food orders to The Hub every other Thursday for local collection.

Organity offers a fantastic range of organic fresh fruit and vegetables, butchery, baked goods, dairy products, herbs and spices, pantry essentials, natural cleaning products, personal hygiene products and many other everyday items you would normally find in a supermarket.

The range changes regularly depending on seasonal availability, making it a great way to discover fresh and organic produce while supporting more conscious and healthier choices.

For more information about what's available, ordering and deliveries, please contact Lynn on 07941 242 681.

Our Monthly Wellness Evening

One of our much-loved community events is our Monthly Wellness Evening, held on the last Friday of every month from

6:00pm – 10:30pm.

These relaxed and friendly evenings bring together practitioners, therapists, local businesses and members of the community for an evening of connection, discovery and wellbeing.

Visitors can enjoy refreshments and food, meet local practitioners, browse wellbeing and handmade products, experience mini treatments, watch demonstrations, have friendly conversations and explore different approaches to wellbeing.

There may also be spiritual or intuitive activities available for those who are interested, but you don't need to be spiritual or have any particular beliefs to attend.

The emphasis is on community, curiosity, wellbeing and having a good evening together.

If you would like a stall/space or whether you are a regular visitor or coming along for the first time, you will receive a warm welcome.

Volunteers – We Need You

As a start up CIC, volunteers are incredibly important to us.

There are many jobs behind the scenes that help make a community space successful, from helping at events and welcoming visitors to supporting fundraising, social media, administration, setting up rooms and helping with community projects.

You don't need to have lots of experience.

You might have an hour to spare, a particular skill you'd like to share, or simply want to meet new people and become more involved locally.

We want volunteering at The Hub to be enjoyable, inclusive and rewarding.

We Need Your Support

Every Contribution Helps The Hub Continue

The Hub is a community-led organisation, and its future depends on the support of the people who use, value and believe in

What we are trying to create

Running a community space takes ongoing time, energy and resources. There are costs involved in keeping the building running, maintaining the space, providing equipment, organising events, promoting activities and making sure The Hub remains welcoming and accessible.

As a CIC, our focus is on creating community benefit, but we still need financial support to help us achieve our goals.

Donations really do make a difference

A donation to The Hub isn't simply helping us keep the doors open. It is helping create opportunities for people to connect, participate, learn and improve their wellbeing.

Your support can help us develop new activities, support community events, improve our facilities, provide resources, reach more people and create opportunities for those who might otherwise struggle to access activities and services.

Every donation, whatever the amount, is appreciated.

£5, £10, £20 or £50 or whatever you can afford no matter how small can all contribute towards building a stronger community. Regular monthly donations can be especially valuable because they help us plan ahead and develop projects with greater confidence.

If you cannot donate financially, that's absolutely okay.

You can support The Hub by volunteering, attending events, hiring our spaces, sharing our information, introducing us to local organisations or simply telling someone about what we're doing.

Your time, skills, encouragement and support are all valuable.

Help Us Build The Future of The Hub

We are actively looking for:

Volunteers

Event helpers

Workshop facilitators

Community champions

Fundraising support

Local partnerships

Sponsors

CIC's who want to partner

Businesses who want to support community projects

Donations and regular contributors

Together, we can continue developing The Hub into a place that serves the community for many years to come.

Be Part of Something

We believe communities flourish when people come together, support one another and share their skills, experiences and ideas.

The Hub is here to provide a place where that can happen.

A place where you can meet someone new

A place where you can learn something

A place where you can try something different

A place where you can look after your wellbeing

A place where you can share your skills.

A place where you can start something new

A place where you can volunteer

A place where local businesses and community groups can connect

And, sometimes, simply a place where you can walk through the door and feel welcome.

As The Hub grows as a Community Interest Company, we want to listen to our community and develop alongside it.

We don't have to have everything figured out today.

We want to build The Hub together

If you have an idea how the Hub can improve or you want to host an event, a class, a workshop, a community project or something you think would benefit local people, we'd love to hear from you.
